The decision of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) to upgrade electricity infrastructure and release new connections to consumers has brought cheer to the faces of the residents of Greenfield Colony. DHBVN has assured to upgrade the system before Diwali in the colony by setting up 30 new transformers, two new feeders and a 66 KV substation to illuminate the colony.

DHBVN officials had been saying all these years that the colonisers had to deposit over Rs 17 crore for the purpose and nothing could be done until the money was paid to the power department. However, DHBVN recently decided to issue fresh connections in these colonies and work is on full swing in Greenfield Colony.

DHBVN executive engineer JS Dhull said against the total outstanding amount of rupees eight crore, his department has received Rs 2.5 crore and the work is on in full swing in anticipation that the remaining amount will also be deposited by the coloniser in due course. “The Punjab and Haryana High Court in its order has directed that DHBVN will fix the instalments of payment to be made by the coloniser. We are soon going to send the case to the headquarters and instalments will be fixed by them,” he said.

Dhull said the department plans to install 23 transformers by October end. The sanctioned load in Greenfield Colony is 6,215 KW while the present load is 49,666 KW.
