30 Sep 2013 Hindustan Times (Delhi)

The Action Plan Committee of the power departments comprising Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has approved a plan up to 2017. It includes the setting up of new sub stations.

Officials of the two power corporations finalising the plan of setting up more sub stations in the district.

The step has been taken to meet the power demand of Faridabad and its neighbouring areas that is likely to reach 2,500 MW in the next four years.

The present demand in the area is 1,400 MW. An additional demand of 1,100 MW is expected in the next five years, raising it to 2,500 MW. If everything goes well, in 2017 the supply in the area will be more than the demand.

At a recent meeting of the officials of the two power corporations, chaired by the Delhi zone chief engineer of DHBVN SK Singhal, the action plan was finalised and a decision was taken to set up new sub stations in Faridabad Palwal, Mewat and Sohna. The increase in demand because of the Metro rail service, the residential colonies in Greater Faridabad and Industrial Model Township was also taken into consideration.

The meeting was also attended by the DHBVN superintending engineer Subhash Deswal, HVPN superintending engineer MC Tyagi and executive engineers of the two power corporations.

Deswal said unlike in the past, the two departments would prepare their own action plan and send it to their respective heads for approval. That will delay the matter as the picture would not be realistic and there would be too many objections. "The basic idea behind constituting this committee is to prepare the plan jointly and then send it to the CMD for final approval," he said. It was also decided to lay new transmission lines besides replacing the old ones and upgradation of some sub stations besides installing additional transformers to meet the demand. The plan duly signed by the officials of the two corporations is being sent to Devendra Singh, chairman-cummanaging director of both the power corporations for approval. The committee recommended setting up sub stations of 220 KV each in Sectors 37, 46 and 58 in Faridabad and Mir pur Kaurali in Palwal and Rozkameo in Mewat. Similarly, the committee finalised 11 sub stations of 66 KV capacity each for Sectors 21-D, 37, 59 and 70, Greenfield Colony and Sarurpur in Faridabad; 66 KV capacity transfor mers in Sector 3, Roondhi and Gadpuri in Palwal; and Gaon Mohammed Ahir in Sohna. The committee also approved the setting up of 22 transformers of 31 MVA each till 2015 and 18 transformers of 100 MVA each by 2016 in view of the increase in demand in Faridabad, including the setting up of four transfor mers in Pali, Palla and Palwal.
