The Industrial Model Township (IMT) spread over an area of 1,832 acre of land to accommodate nearly 900 industrial units is likely to become a reality by the end of the year. Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), that is developing IMT has given a revised deadline of December 31 to the Hyderabad-based infrastructure company to complete the project of providing civic amenities in the area.
IMT is spread over1,832 acre of landin Chandawali , Machhgar, Nawada, Sotai and Mujheri villages in Ballabgarh. It is spread over Sectors 66 to 69 and includes some parts of Sector 70 and 71 as per the provision made in the Master Plan. HSIIDC is the developing agency. It will have industrial units, special economic zone and Transport Nagar besides facilities like health centre, shopping mall, eateries and banks.
The proposal to have IMT was mooted in 2006. However, the actual work began a couple of years back. HSIIDC sources said though the project has now picked up steam, only 95% of the road work and laying of sewerlines has been completed so far. Similarly, work pertaining to the construction of drains is also lagging behind and only 90% of the work has been completed till date. As for the water works, two overhead tanks have been constructed and the work pertaining to the boosters is also nearing completion. Over 90% of electrical work has been completed, sources added.
The previous deadline to complete the project was April 19. “As the agency entrusted with the job could complete only 75 to 80% of the work within the stipulated time, they had demanded some extension in time. We have revised the time for completion of the project and are hopeful that it would be completed by December 31,” said an HSIIDC official, requesting anonymity as he is not authorised to talk to the media. He said the agency was given two years’ time to complete the project. However, it got delayed due to the protest by the farmers against the acquisition of their land and some technical reasons, added the official.
