Decks have been cleared for the construction of the second bridge linking Industrial Model Township (IMT) with the Bypass Road.
The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation (HSIIDC) has deposited Rs 10 crore with the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department (UPID) towards the cost of construction. The bridge will have four lanes and UPID will construct the bridge in 18 months. The Agra Canal is controlled by UPID.
For any activity in the canal area, permission is sought from UPID and the construction is carried out by UPID only. All the bridges over the Agra Canal in Faridabad and Palwal have been constructed by UPID.
The department concerned bears the cost and makes payment to UPID towards the construction. A second bridge is to be constructed near the Bypass Road to improve connectivity between IMT and National Highway-2. The first bridge near Sector 2 has already been constructed with four lanes for Rs 9.2 crore.
HSIIDC executive engineer, DS Bhatti said, “A reminder has been sent to UPID to start the construction immediately as we have already deposited the money with them. The second bridge is to come up near Sahupura village. The bridge will further improve the connectivity.”The bridge will not only provide better connectivity between IMT and the Bypass Road, it will also benefit residents of the neighbouring villages.
“It will save a lot of time in commuting from Shahpur Kalan, Panhera Khurd, Panhera Kalan, Hirapur and Dayalpur to the Bypass Road. Also, the new bridge will have four lanes that will help in smooth passage as against the existing bridges that are narrow and in a poor condition,” said HD Sharma, a resident of Shahpur Kalan.
