Online property registration soon
To bring transparency in property registration and weed out corruption, the district administration is introducing online property registration from December 25 in Faridabad Tehsil. The facility is being started as a pilot project in eight districts, including Faridabad, Jagadhari, Thanesar, Rewari, Tohtak, Jind, Kaithal and Karnal. The software is being developed in Chandigarh and the trials for the same will start from December 22.
Land or property registration refers to registration to document changes in ownership and transactions involving immovable property. To ensure legal ownership title in case of purchase of a piece of land/immovable property, registration of the same is to be done with the authority concerned.
At a recently-held public meeting in Rohtak, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said his government had received many complaints about the process of registration and how people were made to visit the tehsil offices repeatedly. He said the system of online registration of property is being introduced check this.
District informatics officer, Faridabad Vipin Gupta said six counters are being set up at the Tehsil office for the purpose and a helpdesk is also being opened where the applicants get necessary help in getting the formalities completed. "The helpdesk will give the entire information about registration of property to the applicants, including the matter to be typed out on the stamp paper and the fee and documents required for the purpose. After examining the documents at the helpdesk, the applicants will be given appointment to appear before the Tehsildar for registration," he said.
Gupta said the applications for registration of property will be accepted from 9am to 2pm on a working day and the delivery of the registered documents will be given from 3pm to 5pm on the same day. On an average, 50 to 60 registrations are done daily in Faridabad Tehsil, he added.
The online registration facility will bring an end to the role of touts known for arm-twisting applicants by delaying the registration. This will also check the registration of sub divided plots of agriculture land that is prohibited as per the law. "Tehsildars are often accused of registering such plots of agriculture land, which is banned by the state government," said an official in the Tehsil office, on the condition of anonymity.
