HUDA gears up to resume the construction work on the Master Roads project next week in order to complete it by March 31.
The Master Roads that are dividing the 15 sectors, Sector 75 to 89, will ensure easy connectivity not only within the colonies across the Agra and the Gurgaon Canal, but they will also provide a major connection between Faridabad and the area across the canals. Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has carved out the sectors in Greater Faridabad. It is laying the Master Roads in the area. HUDA has to construct 44-kilometre-long Master Roads in the area. However, it has acquired only 38.5km of the land for the purpose so far.
HUDA demarcated the land for the project in January 2011 itself. However, owing to protests by some farmers on whose land the Master Roads were to be developed, citing low compensation rate, the acquisition of the land got delayed. Besides, certain land dispute cases as well as environmental clearance in the felling of the trees also delayed the process.
HUDA executive engineer, Rajeev Sharma, said that work on only two kilometer-long stretch remains to be done. “Extreme cold and bad weather conditions forced us to stop work on the project. The quality of construction suffers in winter. As the weather has improved now, we are going to resume work next week,” he said.
Shar ma added that the remaining part of the Master Roads will be completed as and when the land is acquired for the purpose.
Those living in Greater Faridabad have been demanding that the Master Roads and other civic amenities in the area be provided as soon as possible. “Our administrator, PC Meena, held a meeting with the officials to prioritise the job. He has directed us to ensure that the Master Roads work gets completed by March 31,” said Sharma.
