Officials leave no stone unturned, work on Metro stations at war footing
As civil and electrical work on Faridabad Metro corridor is complete, the remaining work on Metro stations is going at war footing.
Experts are currently in the process of checking the security aspect of the Metro track.
The agencies entrusted with the task of developing Metro stations on Faridabad Metro corridor with every facility are leaving no stone unturned to complete the work at the earliest possible, DMRC officials said.
“The whitewash work is going on inside the stations, besides signboards are being installed and other miscellaneous works are currently going on war footings,” said the officials, adding, “the telecom related work is also going on.”
The trial run of Metro trains is going on for the last one and a half months. The officials said the trial train runs during night hours also. The experts are checking security aspect of the track and once the corridor is cleared by the safety authorities only then will the Metro train service start.
The unique feature about Faridabad Metro corridor is all the stations are connected with foot over bridges (FOBs) and not only Metro commuters, even common people can easily use these bridges to cross over the highway.
Though, there is a provision for double Foot Over Bridges at every Metro station, DMRC has ensured at least one gets completed at each Metro station by the time Metro service is commissioned. At least one such FOB at the nine stations have already come up even before trial run of Metro started about a month and half ago.
Some Metro stations like Old Faridabad, Sarai Khawaja, Ajrondha, etc, seem ready with even an escalator functioning.
“Side development which is also pending is going on with speed,” said one DMRC official. A look at the stations gives one the feeling that actual commissioning of this line is going to take a few weeks more though the work is going round the clock.
It may be mentioned the people of this Industrial township have reasons for smile as trial run on Faridabad corridor is going on and the people are waiting for the day when the service actually is started.
The 13.875 km elevated Faridabad corridor has nine stations and they are Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewla Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajrondha, Bata Chowk, Escorts Mujesar. Two more stations NCB colony and Ballabgarh will be added in this line by 2017, the officials said as work on the project has already started.
Delhi Metro has come up with its first-ever green electrical receiving sub-station (RSS) for Faridabad Metro with a host of other eco-friendly features which was inaugurated by Mangu Singh on the same day at Sector 46 when he arrived in a trail run Metro.
This eco-friendly electric substation will supply electricity to the 13.875 KM long Badarpur-Escorts Mujesar elevated Metro corridor.
“Delhi Metro has 12 receiving sub-stations in different parts of Delhi but the receiving substation in Faridabad is only station with many eco-friendly features”, a DMRC official said.
The Faridabad corridor is on standard gauge track and the fresh train bogies which have come from Bangalore are with 2.9 meter width where as trains running on Broad-gauge are with 3.2 meter width.
This elevated Metro corridor, with nine stations between Badarpur and Escorts Mujesar station will expand up to Kashmere Gate on the other side from Mandi House.
