Work done, Faridabad Metro line awaits NOC
As Faridabad Metro corridor is likely to be finished by June end, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has intensified giving finishing touches to all the nine Metro stations here.
DMRC has intensified giving finishing touches to all the nine Metro stations in Faridabad.
As civil and electrical work on this corridor is complete, the agencies entrusted with decorating the premises of the stations with plantation of trees have intensified work. Apart from setting up ticket counters, entry gates for paid areas have also come up. The passengers with tokens will be allowed to enter the paid area.
The names of the metro stations have also come up outside the stations here. The scene at Old Faridabad Metro stations gives one the feeling that the station is already operational, but according to the officials, the station will be operational once the safety commissioner gives an NOC.
The experts are checking the security aspect of the track and once the corridor is cleared by the safety authorities only then the Metro train service will start, the officials said.
The unique feature about Faridabad Metro corridor is that all the stations are connected with foot overbridges (FOBs) and not only metro commuters, even common people can easily use these bridges to cross over the highway.
“The Metro service is going to change the face and fate of this city,” said Bipin Chaudhary, a resident of Faridabad.
Though, there is a provision for double foot overbridges at every Metro station, DMRC has ensured at least one will get completed at each Metro station by the time the train service is commissioned.
The 13.875 km elevated Faridabad corridor has nine stations — Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewla Maharajpur, Sector 27A, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar. Two more stations NCB colony and Ballabgarh will be added on this line by 2017 and work on the project has already started.
