DMRC reaches milestone on Delhi-Faridabad metro link in India 

 

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reached a construction milestone on the Faridabad Metro Corridor with the launch of the first precast girder in New Delhi, India.

 

DMRC has completed installation of the first girder for the 13.87km long Badarpur - YMCA Chowk Metro corridor of the Faridabad Metro Corridor. The precast girder was launched using two cranes of 400 ton and 330 ton capacity. Each crane lifted 150-ton weight and 27m long U-girder and have installed it on to the viaduct near the proposed Old Faridabad Metro station.

The Badarpur - YMCA Chowk Metro corridor will have nine stations. The entire line will have a total of 548 piers and 883 U-Girders. The construction work on the new line is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.

The new corridor is an extension of already operational 20.16km long Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor of Line -6. Once operational, the new line will transport people from Kashmere Gate to YMCA Chowk and will be 43.4km long.
